Apprenticeship / TRAINEESHIP

After completing the NZ Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering students can apply for an apprenticeship or traineeship. These vary by employer but are generally about 3-5 years in duration. During this time apprentices complete the required Unit Standards through a mix of on job training and block courses. An apprentice is paid a salary by the employer.  Once qualified aircraft maintenance engineers are highly sought after around the world & may work for airlines, line maintenance companies, engine or component overhaul workshops, or in the wider general aviation industry.  Employers include Air NZ Engineering and Maintenance, RNZAF, Hamilton Jet, Christchurch Engine Centre, Airwork, Pacific Aerospace & many other general aviation employers.


Locations: Completed at location of employer.

Format: On job training with block courses provided by your employer.

Duration: 3-5 Years
